A thread to introduce ourselves!
I'm "Tiger" from the Hampshire College circus - Circus Folk Unite! - and I play primarily with fire. Staff, breathing and eating (and safetying!) are my arts of choice. I've also done some stilting and I'll occasionally do acrobatics as needed I'm needed.
My other interests are numerous! I enjoy lots of things, but mostly now I'm just enjoying living and playing in general. How about you? I'm looking forward to getting to know lots of new college circus types!

Salutations! I'm Sarah, also known to her circus friends at Hampshire as "Cotton Candy Sar" and "Lady and the Tramp." The second name refers to my involvement in the sport of Trampolining. I took a year off from Hampshire. During this time I went to Circomedia's Circus School in Bristol, UK, specializing in acrobatics and aerial arts. Now I go to UMASS. If I had a time machine, I would push 1920, Chicago and be a genuine boop boop da boop girl. My dream career is to revitalize cities through street art and performance. My animorph alter ego is a bird; as my aversion to gravity and facial expressions mirror birds.
My goal and hopes for the conference are to meet other people from college circus groups across the States, combine forces, share, play and get together and educate each other on how grassroots organizations can grow, lay out plans for what the goals of "New Circus" in the States is and can be, and a certain three letter word...FUN!

Oi, I'm Victoria, and I study at Hampshire. At this very exact, precise, present moment, I'm in Melbourne, Aus studying at the National Institute of Circus Arts, and it's pretty awesome. I'm a newbie to the circus world, having started only last school year during my first year of college, but I want to learn as much as possible.
I'm working on gaining an a fantastic amount of skill in acro, group/partner work, hand balancing, hula hoops, and static trapeze though my dream is to play on silks. I'm also working on a few juggling skills, and would like to work on staff so I can someday light it on fire. Oh, and I like playing on my powerizers.
I like hugs and snuggles and I play well with others. I really want to work on getting all college circuses connected so that we have a solid network and community, because I think that circus is new enough that banding together will only make us stronger and better.

I'm another of the many Sarahs in the Hampshire College circus... I go by Blue, Blue hair sar, or Sar (rhymes with hair... it's like you only say the first syllable of Sarah) I currently do Aerial silks, poi, double staff (this one is new), some hoop, bull whips, fire schtuff (the last four, plus occasional eating and breathing), sometimes diabolo, and a little partner/group acro also, although that one could use a bit of work.
Umm... I'm a light designer/electrician. Snuggling makes me happy.

Tara, from Circus Folk Unite at Hampshire. I do a little bit of just about everything, but I like flying trapeze, tumbling, and multiple-partner acrobalance best. I will hug you.

I just realized that there's quite the trend of huggy, cuddly, and snuggly from Hampshire folk. Unsurprising, I suppose.

I'm James. I'm sure I capitalized it when I made the account, but for whatever reason the board wasn't cool with that. I am 6'1" and will give you Hugs From Above. I picked up poi three years ago and ever since I've had trouble putting them down. I also do fire eating, juggling, bullwhip, staff, devil sticks, (I do most of the previous on fire stilt walking), and whatever else needs doing. Except acro, because I need to draw the line somewhere. Oh, and I can ride a unicycle too. Because I think that trends are awesome, I'm from Hampshire, too. I've always wanted to go to Burning Man but I probably won't get to soon. I'll probably like you.

Hey everyone! My name is Amy, I'm a senior at Ithaca College. I started ICircus (our fabulous circus club!) at Ithaca College. I've been climbing on things (people, trees, rocks, fabric, rope, anything!) since I was physically able to and enjoy balancing ladders on my chin. I love teaching and sharing circus arts and have about 20 devoted people in the club, a big range of ability and experiance, mostly people who are new to circus but so into it! I've been teaching aerial stuff for about 6 years various places and interned/trained/ taught little british children at The Circus Space in london last semester. I'm so so so excited to meet, network, and learn from other circusy college students! Feel free to contact me at acohen1@ithaca.edu.

Hello all!
My name is Michelle and I founded the circus program at Kalamazoo College which we have affectionately dubbed "Cirque du K". I'm a junior and this is our second year of existence. We just finished our first full-fledged show on Feb. 25th! I, personally, have some experience in fire-eating, poi, partner acro, aerial silk and aerial hoop and a very tiny bit of experience in unicycling, stilt-walking, juggling, clowning and staff and I am a theatre major at K so I have pretty solid performance experience. Nice to meet you!

Hey guys, I'm Becca, and I'm a senior at Oberlin college, where I'm currently teaching an Object Manipulation Class which is geared towards teaching the aspects of circus skills that can move across props, so that people can teach and learn and choreograph, even when there is no one else around to help. I contact juggle, rope dart, staff, poi, and regular juggle a bit... (and the first 4 on fire.)
I also like hugs and snuggles... and will probably running hug or attack bubble you at some point in our acquaintance, even if that happens to only be 5 minutes long.
Also... I like brains. A lot. And building things, and my goal is to have built everything that I plan to use in any location where I live when I'm out of school (aka: all furniture and plates etc)

Greetings! I'm Arlie, and I teach flying trapeze, static trapeze a bit, and a few other things. I work up in Brattleboro with the New England Center for the Circus Arts and Elsie and Serenity Smith. I also build and install flying trapeze rigs (to qualified folks), static trapeze rigs, and static bars and such. I've been doing aerial rigging for performers now for 7 years, and performing with my wife doing double static acts, etc. I'll be down tomorrow for the second day of the workshop and hope to meet some of you down there. Remember, Brattleboro is only 45 minutes away Oh yeah, I also do some fire breathing and eating, a bit of stilting and juggling, and am always up for learning new things! Have a great afternoon, and I'll see you tomorrow! Hi! I'm Aries! I'm the co-chair of OCircus!, Oberlin College's circus. I'm more of an organizer than a performer, but I love playing. I'm a slow, but very enthusiastic learner. I'd also love how you all physically put together a show. There are so many different approaches- I want to learn more!
.... I'm always up for a cup of coffee and a chat.
Soon, soon, Aries

Hello circus folk, my name is Hilary and I have been studying circus for about four years now and am looking to continue with circus through college, but it's hard to find a school either with a circus group or near a circus school facility. So I guess what I'm saying is I'd love to hear about your groups and your schools.
